    Ok... Procrastinator that I am I've done some work.
    I removed the belt, no difference.

    I pulled the valve cover and even though the timing chain had just been replaced the chain was a bit loose. So I put a new tensioner in the chain tightened right up but the noise is still there.

    I had it running and pulled coil packs to see if the noise went away, thinking like a rod bearing. I didn't notice a difference except running rough as expected.

    Also to throw this out there, if anyone is willing to look at this and fix it I'd be glad to pay for your effort.
