Default haggerty insurance and registering vehicle?

I have Haggerty Ins on my '66 and need to register it.

To Register with the SOS, you have to have PIP (Personal Injury Protection insurance coverage). Haggerty policy doesn't have PIP coverage.

How the heck do you register the car and get plates?

That's really odd. I don't know much about insurance but aren't policies sold for certain states supposed to meet the state minimum to be legal to drive?

I had hagerty on my 67 Chevelle when I initially got it plated back 18 years ago (Authentic Historical Plate), no issues.
I now have Grundy on my 67 and just added and insured, plated my 71 Mopar (also with an Authentic Historical Plate), no issues.

You cannot register an Authentic Plate at a SOS, you have to mail away to Lansing for it. Pretty easy process, just takes some time with snail mail.

I wonder if this is new? Never had this issue insuring and plating classic or exotic cars through Hagerty.

Hagerty often does insurance on cars that won't be driven on the road, or that will use other insurance for road use but the Hagerty policy will still cover fire/theft/etc. Could you have a policy like that?

My GN is like that because it was well over their max HP limit for a street car. When filling out their forms, never admit to anything over 600hp or so. That's the number i was told to stay on or under, even though they cover my Demon.

Never heard of having to have PIP I have JC Taylor and have registered many vehicles with no issues. I run an historic vehicle plate as well and just transfer it from vehicle to vehicle when one is bought and sold.

ive never actually heard of that before however your PIP coverage comes off your regular use auto coverage with Haggerty/Grundy therefore they should have no issue renewing the plate unless you do not have a standard auto policy on any other vehicles. and if that is the case i dont think haggerty likes to insure them anyway

Why couldn't storage insurance have the same applied to it when another/others under the same policy have regular coverage containing PIP?

The SoS will not renew/issue a plate/tab to a vehicle containing just coverage for storage.
