Hi Gary,

Received your bid request for a small garage in Troy. While we could price the materials for this project it would not be competitive by the time we add the freight costs for 70 plus miles in urban traffic. Same holds true for contractors and concrete suppliers, they would have to include minimum charges in the bid to cover travel time making the pricing non-competitive as well.

Thank you for considering us but we must decline to bid at this time due to the distance from our market.

I've contacted at least 7 different companies, including Miller Garages and wanna know how many have contacted me back??? Exactly ONE and that was Chelsea Lumber saying they can't do it....Sheese....

Must not be enough profit....

It is SO hard to get contractors right now. I feel your pain - been trying got get a local electrician since March.

Contractors and skilled labor have crazy backlog, most can name their price and turn down anything they want. It's crazy, and only going to get worse as no young people are getting into the skilled trades

It’s just as crazy down here. I wanted to put a 14x24 bay on my garage and replace the roof trusses to give me some attic space and reside/reroof in metal.

I was quoted 31k and they couldn’t start for at least 6 months.

I scaled back my plans to something myself and a few friends can handle on our own.

With the prices of wood these days due to the tariffs on Canada be prepared to sell a kidney, I just paid $12 for a 4x4 x8 piece of pine.

Yes he does, but now he focuses more on structural consulting, since he makes more money that way. He will take on construction jobs from time to time.
