Default bringing parts car from Canada to US...

So, I’m debating on trying to bring a car from Canada to the US.
Car is an 89, hasn’t run or been registered for quite a long time.
I’d be using it for parts, not attempting to get it running and driving.

I can go get it and bring it back, but not sure what I would need to get it across???
Guy says it has a clean title, which I believe.

Anyone do this before, or have any links to where I can read up on it?

I remember a guy on here doing it with no problem but he did have a problem trying to plate it due to emissions, it shouldn’t be a problem to bring it over and part it out and scrap the rest though.

    Cool

About 13 years ago I brought a car over that I bought in Canada.
I simply had all my paper work with me and no problems whatsoever.
I was at the border check point for 2 or 3 mins and then on my way.

Try contacting Customs and ask them what they would require.

Only be a problem if you try to plate it. Then inspections and such.

The car's were made in Germany in the 80's. The Canadian market vehicle is the same as the US market vehicle, so no issue there.
I'll have to see about how to go to border control or something and ask questions.

It can be really complicated. I've done it, but it was a while ago.

For cars to be registered you have to make sure there is a sticker on the car that states "this vehicle meets all US emmisions...blah blah"

Also, you need to get a surety bond by a customs broker.

This is the company I used last time and I was really happy with them. https://www.adrutherford.com/

Call that company and they will give you everything you have to do, and the cost.

    Just an update...
I went and got the car the other day. The owner had the title, and we wrote up a bill of sale that we both signed and dated.
Other than that, no issues getting it over the bridge and home. I'm sure it is a different story with each worker as to how serious they want to take it.
When I went through customs, they didn't even look the vehicle over to confirm the VIN was the same on the paper as what was on my trailer.
    Maybe beginners luck.

    of said car!

Thanks for the update. I haven’t seen one of those cars in a long time.
