Default Looking for a place to get a shoulder injury looked at? MRI?

So i fucked up my left shoulder over a month ago, stopped working out waiting for it to heal. Tried lifting last week, felt ok. Then shoulder day came, and i think i fucked it up again.
Not sure if i should bother going to my regular doctor or some specialist. I have BCBS PPO....and fuck the doctor visit charge to my regular doctor if all she i going to do is send me elsewhere anyways.

Anyone have any recommendations or ideas? It looks normal and feels normal to the touch, but there is something going on in there behind all this badass muscle. hurts when i move in certain movements.

My local PT accepts patients without a referral from a doctor. However, I had to jump thru hoops (but they were small hoops, my doctor understands how it works) to see a shoulder specialist. The specialist said 80% of the time you don't need surgery with a torn rotator cuff. So if they want to cut right away, get a second opinion.

I had my shoulder fixed last year by Matt Bahu at Orthopedics Specialists of Oakland County. I had a partial tear of my cuff. He did an awesome job. Recovery is a bitch, though - you have to sleep in a chair for a couple months. 248-335-2977 Great guy, from Michigan too.

I literally slept in a chair for two months with my arm in a sling. I could lay down on it, but as soon as I tried to move I would get a pain spike. I think I could have propped it in a pillow fort after a month or so and slept horizontally, but I had a nice lazy-boy and just kicked back on that.

On this note - they offered me PT since I only had a partial tear. He said it was 50/50 it would work. I opted for surgery - no regrets.

I went to Vinay Pampati, DO out of Henry Ford Macomb for my bicep tendon surgery. I would definitely recommend him.
