    Default Machine shop recommendation

    Hi folks,

I have a set of open chamber big block Chevy heads that need to be redone (low compression in 2 cylinders) and was looking for machine shop recommendations. I'm on the east side and was looking at Dynamic in Chesterfield, and Automotive Machine in Fraser. I'd appreciate any feedback - thanks!

I know Steve gets busy, but I would take them to total flow in rochester. https://totalflowproducts.com/

X2 on Automotive machine. They've done a few LS blocks, and a Stovebolt bore home deck and head deck. Nice work.

Thanks guys. I’ve heard some mixed reviews on Automotive Machine - but this job is as simple as it gets for a shop with a Serdi machine and deck cutter. Called them today and they seemed knowledgeable.

I wouldn’t let automotive machine touch my lawnmower. Completely fucked a Buick GN motor for me and a few other guys on this board. I had to sue them. Only reason they got off the hook, is that the shop that hired them to do the machining on the block never showed up to court. So they had to pay.

If you search you’ll find the specifics on how bad they fucked mine up. Cost me 4K to fix what they did.

    Here, I found it.

    http://motownmuscle.com/forums/showt...motive+machine

Found: 3 bent rods, rods were never resized, it had never been line bored and honed with the girdle installed, the crank was 77 grams out of balance, 2 brand new diamond pistons were replaced due to rods, one because they were improperly pressed on. The hone was so fine that the pistons never seated.
