What kind of work do you plan to do? On a FB page I'm on, everyone loves the Quickjack brand. Something like $800 at Costco. I have only used low lifts at a tire shop.

I had a rotary low rise that was air over hydraulic and it worked great, was a pain with a low car though.

Used one before & would only consider it if I were never ever going to do powertrain swaps, exhaust work, subframe/cradle work.

They work great for tire rotations, oil changes, hub bearing work, bumper replacements, & if the concrete is not thick enough for side post lifts.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I don't have the space nor the floor to support a real lift, but I've developed vertigo over the last few months and when I lay under the car it comes screaming back. My current project is just to wire brush my old XJ and lay down a couple coats of chassis saver, etc before winter. I figure some of the low rise lifts I'd be able to hit the critical areas and maybe use a reclining low profile chair or creeper and get away with it. I've tried to find people to pay to do this and no-one has interest, so I gots to do it myself. Eventual dream would include a pole barn and a real lift but don't know if that'll ever happen.

Another thought is if you could rent a bay and do it there. There's one in Livonia I've heard of but I haven't actually used them.

I might do something like this. Interesting suggestion. My cousin has offered his lift but he's quite a drive, may still go that route. It's funny, I thought about opening a place like this myself a couple years ago. I always get stuck on the negatives and what ifs.
