    Default 1994 Z28 - 6Spd, Looking cheap-ish modifications for power

My brother just picked up a nice looking 1994 Z28. He would like to get an additional 125-200 HP out of it. But on the cheaper side of things.

He was considering bolting on a super charger. But I told him to let me ask in here first. I know a lot of you have good working knowledge of the old LT1.

My thoughts would be heads, Cam, longtubes, and a tune.

Do any of you guys have a better suggestion? He would like something reliable but with a little more umph than it currently has. Any shop recommendations as well that can do all of this?

Heads, cam, intake, exhaust, most importantly gear change.

If it's a manual trans. He needs to beef up the rear axle and add a few rear suspension parts to stop wheelhop. A aftermarket rear axle is expensive but needed if you want to bang gears with 400+hp.

12 bolt axle with 4.10 gears.
    Clutch upgrade
    Sticky tires.
    3" Steel Driveshaft
    Cam/springs/pushrods/roller rocker arms.
    Tune.

Thanks. Looks like I was thinking the right direction. Didn’t know about the rear end issue. Will definitely bring that up. Thanks for the input.

Any thoughts on a shop that’s not a rip and knows what they are doing? Especially for tuning.

    Thanks again

I've never owned LT1 or LS1 engines but having fun with any of these cars requires beefy driveline parts. The parts that keep you from breaking will make you broker.... We used to have a guy on here that broke 8 or 9 LT1 rear axles and he just had bolt on parts.

I had a 96 formula with a 6-speed. I did 4.10 gears, headers, Magnaflow exhaust, Hotcam, 1.6 rr, CAI. It sounded good and was a lot fun to drive. I never really raced it so I did not have any axle problems. The guy that bought it said it ran a 13.0 but thought with slicks it would run in the 12s. Aggressive Performance in Clinton township did the cam swap and I had a mail order tune.

To get the most out of it a set of ported heads from Lloyd Elliot with a bigger cam would make the most power. When I asked about a supercharger everyone always told me LT1s were not a good choice to supercharge due to their pistons and compression ratio. CamaroZ28.com has a lot of info.

The cheapest route to 125hp is a shot of nitrous.

Don't get greedy or lean it out and everything will be fine.

I ran a 150 shot NX kit on my 95 M6 Z-28, with Arizona Speed and Marine mid length headers, Borla catback and CAI, it was fun. Same here, never raced, just had fun. No rear end issues.
