Took about an hour to install and I bought a 9000w generator from Costco for $500 (?).. it runs off of gas, propane or natural gas.. it'll run half my house.. $800 total cost

where did you get the transfer switch kit? cost?

That switch is nice, I should get that instead of back feeding, would be way easier for my wife to do.

The nice thing about back-feeding is I don't have to worry about
choosing which circuits I want / need to power.

I simply shut off the house main power switch, back-feed from
the generator into the box & everything has available power,
safely.
