I agree with you. Toyota builds incredible quality, but they don't full understand how we use trucks in the USA. Google "Toyota Bent Tailgate" and see all the pics on both Tacoma and Tundra. They even sell reinforcement panels because it is such a known issue.

My brother had 3 fairly low mileage diesel/gas 2500/3500 late model pickup trucks. He tows a camper, car trailer... they get usage (don't ask me why he needed so many trucks...impulsive buying I guess)
Dealer gave him 140k for all 3 + a new Nissan high top commercial cargo Van. The van he likes, has a 9500 tow capacity, 375hp, 5year 100k (no deductible) bumper to bumper warranty. Lots of options for towing. He's already towed his camper with it... said it pulls/ tows just as good as his pickup trucks did.
They retail for just over 30K. Pretty reasonable compared to today's truck/car prices for something this heavy duty. https://www.nissanusa.com/vehicles/c.../nv-cargo.html

Oh yeah, agreed. I think the overall toughness has gone down significantly.

I both hated and loved the WD Hilux videos, because that was perfect example of a dream truck for me... so I hated seeing it destroyed, but loved how it more than lived up to the reputation.

He started to balance it out with destroying that squatted truck. I think at the end he felt a little bad for the Hilux.

Some argue the Tundra is basically a 3/4 ton truck equivalent

The car market is nuts… wasn’t looking to sell my foxbody vert, but it was worth more to someone else than it was to me, so I let it go. My parents have been offered $137,000 ($30k over sticker) for their C8 convertible.
