    Default GM 3.6l LY7 Experience?

Looking to pick up a cheap larger sedan, and I've gotten it in my head that I need a V6 G8.

Does anyone have any good experience with the LY7, specifically if it were in an '08 or '09 Pontiac G8?

Looks like this thing started in the Cadillacs and had some timing chain issues, at least at the beginning. Interference motor so that could be really bad. If I were looking at an '08 or '09 with 125k-150k miles, am I looking at a whole host of problems?

I bought my 2009 G8 V6 in Sept 2020 it had 250,000 km's or 155,343 miles its mostly used as my winter car but I take it to work 2 or 3 times a week in the summer

I got a great deal on a one owner car with all service records and no rust.

The previous owner only used semi synthetic oil in it.

I switched to full synthetic and did 3 oil changes within the first year and do 2 oil changes a year now

275,000 kms and going strong and I am fairly tough on her.

I was actually looking for a cheap V6 CTS Caddy but this thing fell into my lap

I don't know that RPO well, but some of those early DI engines had oil drain-back from the head issues (I think the holes were too small or something). Not an issue until the oil got low, but still something to watch for.

Keep good oil in them and they last forever from what I've seen and heard.

Heard that too, but I am 99% sure this was the predecessor to the 3.6L DI. This one is OHC (DOHC?) but no DI.

Cool, that's what I was reading too. Just no personal experience on my end. Hell, my newest vehicle is a 2008.
