Not only did the ruling affect minimum wage standards, but it also dramatically changed what employers must offer employees for sick time and which employers are covered under the Earned Sick Time Act. Under the old Paid Medical Leave Act, employers who had fifty or more employees were required to give 40 hours of paid sick leave and were allowed to have the paid sick days accrue at a rate of 1 hour per every 40 hours worked. However, with the recent changes, employers of all sizes are now affected, and the offerings have changed. Under the new ESTA, small employers (employers with less than 10 employees) must offer 40 hours of paid sick leave and 32 hours of unpaid leave. Those classified as large employers (more than 10 employees) must provide 72 hours of paid sick leave. The ruling also changes the accrual rate. Under the ESTA, employees must be allowed to accrue paid sick days at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

Depends on your pto setup. If that’s the case you should be able to roll 72 hours over a year also

That’s part of the sick time law. Supposed to be able to carry time over.
Employees can carry over up to 40 hours of unused accrued paid medical leave from one benefit year to the next; however, employers are not required to allow employees to use more than 40 hours in a single benefit year.
