I hope the money invested shows profit for the big three, but at least for now it’s not looking too good.

UAW Communications Director Jonah Furman busted for leaking the unions real goals with strike. Notice not a word about benefits and pay. The article is behind a paywall on Detroit News, but is verified in this CNN article: https://edition.cnn.com/2023/09/22/b...ges/index.html

Meanwhile they are suing GM, Ford, and even Tim Scott for unfair labor practices. Specifically for the Big 3 not negotiating in good faith. Kind of seems like they are the ones who have no plans of negotiating in good faith. And right after this came out, his Twitter account went private.

In one message, Furman wrote “if we can keep them wounded for months, they don’t know what to do… this is recurring reputations damage and operation chaos.”

In another, he writes “The beauty is we’ve laid it all out in public and they’re still helpless to stop it.”

Basically these people are following the paths that the politicians have been following. 'I am going to do this and I don't care if it breaks the law because there isn't a damn thing you can do to me.'

Or maybe the politicians are following the lead of the early UAW

Doesn't matter because they are all liars and law breakers and don't give a crap what anyone says....

I think you're underestimating the personal cost, constant headaches, stress, and no work-life balance when you're the CEO of GM. There's a lot of stuff you and I can do without thinking that she cannot. I'd be curious as to just how much she spends a year on work clothes, hair, personal assistants to cover family needs while she is constantly traveling, etc. $1-2M? No thanks. I'm not saying $29M is deserved either, but if you think she can just show up 40 hours a week and punch out at the end of her shift and focus on her family life... and then show up in ratty jeans and polo to work daily and make a go at it... probably need to reality check how much it costs just to be in that position. Granted her income level likely drives a lavish lifestyle too... but I think you'd have a very hard time finding a better CEO of GM for $2M/year.

Right, especially with the cost of electric in MI and its only getting higher. Chargers outside the house are going to cost you $30-40 for a fast charge... solid pass for now.

Everyone is different my man. I never said it was easy, but I know I wouldn't be stressing out about things that much. You can only do what you feel is best at any moment in life. Some doctors stress out about everything and if a patient passes go bonkers, they don't last long. You have to figure out what works for you. Mary is a super nice person and I'm pretty sure she still lives in the same house she's been in for a long time. She isn't blowing her money like a rapper, thats for sure.

They could be - and that has been the elephant in the room for decades.

Baloney. SE MI is doing just fine (assuming real estate prices are an indicator).

I went nine years without so much as a cost of living increase - I doubt there's much general support for much of anything the UAW is requesting.

The whole two-tier thing is ridiculous and always was, but that's what happens when existing people don't give a fuck about anyone but themselves.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

I wonder if Ford is just going to lock the rest of them out at this point? If they shut down the rest of the F-Series, there isn't much reason to keep the lights on anywhere since trucks is where most of the profit comes from.
