    Why did he take so much off the rear then????

    THe quarters will probably need to be stretched because of tire growh.

    I put 33 10.5 W on my mustang and didn’t stretch the quarters.

    Minimal weight loss. Although it is rotational weight, I agree. The next problem is that the wheel will have a high negative offset which increase strain on the end of the axle and bearing.

    My $.02

    And to answer your question, yes to fit a wider wheel and a bigger tire.

    Mine is 49.624 from flange to flange. 54.374 from axle flange to flange.

    Equates to ~2.25 shorter on each side.
