    Default What Would You Do?

A guy that I work with is getting let go on Monday, he has asked me several times if he was being let go,which I knew he was, but because I was told if I said a word to him I would be let go, I had to tell him I didn't know.

This guy has helped me out a ton (work stuff) and is a GREAT guy all around and by no means should be let go.

I feel I should call him this weekend to give him the heads up, as to whats coming on Monday. But if I do it may cost me my job, which as of now I need very much.

    Should I say something?
    or
Let it go and act as if I didn't know shit?

Think of it this way. If he knows one day sooner, does it really matter? Will it change his life somehow? If he's asked, he already knows it's probably gonna happen and shouldn't come as a big surprise anyway.

    Don't say a word.

Unless you can afford to loose your job

    Im with you guys,

But a different employee called me and said that "I am a total pile of shit if I knew something and didn't say a word"

I'm stuck on both sides of the fence on this, but I need to look out for my family right now.

most employers these days don't give a warning and shouldn't tell anyone else.
If they say your being let go in three days then if gives them time to do stuff.
A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again.

As someone that just got laid off on Thursday, I say let the man enjoy his weekend and deal with the BS on Monday. I also think keeping your job is pretty important in this economy.

I dont know. I'm all about looking out for each other at work, but, in this case it seems he's screwed either way. I think if you can trust him not to say anything to anyone, you're fine. But, what is gained? That is a tough call for sure. I hate people that hold stuff from me or other people when they know. BUT, this is a bad situation.

He will throw you under the bus during termination. I have seen it happen. At that point what does he have to lose? You know Jim told me this was gunna happen but I didn't beleive him. Subtle but a knife in the back none the less. Good Luck and remember loose lips sink ships.
