    Default 81 fairmont wheel hop...

the fairmont my brother in law has is wheel hopping like a kid on a pogo stick. its so bad that he keeps snaping shocks.... after installing some lakewood drag shocks the hop wasnt as bad but nothing to brag about. and we noticed that the shocks where dented on the back side by the axle housing. so i have a feeling that he is getting some serious flex back there, throwing the pinion angle all to hell which maybe the source of the problem??? the car is by no means a high hp beast. just a fi 302/t5 with some bolt-ons. any thoughts?

the bushings in your upper and lower control are junk. you need to put some aftermarket control arms in and that will eliminate your wheel hop tremendously if not all of it.if it's not a drag car and see's mostly street duty i would just get a set of non adjustable control arms that have urethane bushings. you can buy a complete set off ebay for $150.
the wheel hop is all caused from the soft stock rubber bishings, and i'm sure thier worn pretty bad. and be sure to replace the upper bushing in the axles tabs as well.

ya i was thinking that was the cause but im not sure if just uca/lca's will help. i think we are gonna take the adj uppers and lowers off of my notch just to see how much (if any) improvement there is before he buys some.

when you change the bushings in the axle tabs, it's alot easier if you take a torch and burn them out. . . . but please use some common sense when burning them out. . . . like having the rear out of the car.
