    Default Any dog breeder connections?

I'm looking to get my daughter a tea cup yorkie or also a "morkie" for her birthday next month. It appears these dogs are hard to come by and considered "designer dogs" from what I have been told. Only been able to find some in California with a starting price of $1500, I really don't trust shipping an animal across country. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I have a bad case of Automotive A.D.D.

Most of these dogs come from puppy mills

coming from a puppy mill could come with a price of its own man , over bread dogs , huge health issues ( kennel cough , parvo and inbreeding for a few ) , not to be rude man but that smile on your daughters face could easily turn into heartbreak if something happens to her dog ya know .,. spend the time and source a good reputable breeder

I don't post much but feel My experience might help.

Shipping puppies/dogs is common practice and while it might be hard to wrap your head around, $10k+ dogs travel internationally in cargo space often.

However- especially since the desired breed is so small, many airlines will allow you to carry it on for free, so for cheaper then shipping, you can fly and pick your puppy up at the airport and hold it on the plane on the way home.

    Do some research on Yorkies.

There is no such thing as a tea-cup, regardless of what the ad says. It's true some yorkies are smaller than others, but when you see a yorkie that weighs 2-4 pounds, they are usually the result of a lot of bad breeding and have short life spans and major health issues.

A yorkie, per AKC guidelines, will weigh no more than 7 pounds.

How old is your daughter? Some things to keep in mind is that these are not lap dogs. These dogs for the most part are not "nice" dogs. These dogs were bred to kill rats. The dogs that killed the most rats the fastest are the ones that were bred. My Yorkie is 5 years old. He was a dog that my girlfriend bought because she thought they were cute and cuddly. I ended up taking him because she was going to get rid of him because she couldn't handle all of the work.

Watch the video below. First words "Maybe they should be called the yorkshire terror, they love confrontation." My point is, this dog is going to need a ton of work/discipline, and not a lot of cuddles and kisses. Otherwise what you end up with is a territorial monster who attacks anybody that comes in the door.

Don't get me wrong, I love my dog and I want another Yorkie in the future but they are a handful and I think a lot of people get them thinking they are this cuddle little dog and they are not - they are terriers bred to WORK.

My grandma has a Morkie and she is a lot better - much less terrier traits in that dog and equally cute/small.

Here is mine. I think my ex paid 400 for this dog from a breeder here in Michigan. He came with papers and we met the parents. Drove an hour to get him. He weighs 6.6 pounds and from what I have read, he has a lot of the sought after Yorkie traits as far as posture, nose and eyes. His ears are a little big but he is still one of the most handsome Yorkies I've seen.

    And with a "shave."
