Default Turbo guys...I have a ?

I'm having Billy Briggs build me a Hydro roller 427ci, to run on pump gas. My future goals are to go 8.50s-8.70s on pump gas. Don't really care about horsepower goals, just need the ability for the time. Billy told me that he recommends atleast an 98mm and preffer a Ball Bearing setup for quicker spool. Here is the issue. I already won a Percision 106mm (Fully Rebuilt), with (2) HKS wastegates, 150lbs fuel injectors w/ harness, and an innovative boost controller for $3,350 on eBay. I thought it was a Ball bearing setup, but it turns out it's journaled.

The turbo is good for low 7s at over 200mph with an SBC. But I will be on pump gas, I still plan to drive this car to work every once in a while. But, I don't won't anyone to think that it is a street car. I plan for it to be 90% race car, and still has a plate on it.

Here is the link to the turbo:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Preci...031010007r2501

Is this the turbo I'm looking for? Or should I still try to get a BB setup.

IMO, Run a 2 step, that way you don't have to worry about spool and can leave in boost. I don't have much experience with the larger turbo's, so I can't be of too much help.

Got the 2-step and the transbrake. However, the bigger the trubo, the longer it takes to spool.

I think the 106 should be fine. Ball Bearing would spin up faster for sure, its about 500 rpm sooner. I just don't trust ebay for buying stuff like that. Ideally what I'd do if I were you is get in touch with someone who builds& designs a turbo for this type of application to do what you want, let them know your goals and what you are working with and go with it, that way you get what you want, no hidden bonus'.

Shouldn't take a 106 to go 8.50's with a 427CI. Head over to LS1Tech.com and check out "MIGHTYMOUSE". I believe he went 8.60 this year? It's a 404/408 with a 91 I think. A/W Intercooler, bullshit heads /intake. It doesn't take much to go that quick with 400+ CI and a smaller turbo if you have the suspension to leave on. Although either way would work.

Also what DCR/SCR are you planning on? To run on pump gas your going to need to be in the 8.5:1-9.:1 area depending on the camshaft and heads.

Yeah check out the forced induction forum on LS1tech Matt. A lot of knowledgable guys in there. Jose from Forced Inductions is a good reference to talk to over there as well. Dang, your build sounds like it is gonna be a killer!

Although Stenod over here has done a lot of Turbo stuff. So they would be good to talk to as well. Just giving you some options man.

Add Josh from Kentucky Turbo onto the list for turbo kits. He is a sponsor on LS1tech and did a 91mm front mount with the burkhart front bumper support for a member on there, the pictures are in a recent thread. Beautiful job. I have called and talked to him for over an hour easily and he was more than happy to answer all my questions. He offers street kits and race kits with a lot of different options. Stenod or KYTP are great options. Stenod will probably be a little more pricey but they do quality work.

Oh and PM LTLHOMER, he has a hell of a build going right now and is a very knowledgable guy as well.

BTW here is mightymouse

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/8...-MM_201441.htm

8.73 @ 159MPH on a 17" wheel. DD Street car. That is a bad bitch.
