I'm not sure how well known this place is. It is Speedy Bill Smith's collection of stuff. He owns Speedway Motors which is like Summit or Jeg's but has actually been around longer than them. It is located in Lincoln, NE. The museum is slightly easier to get into than the GM Heritage Center. It is open on like Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the day and then they open it for big automotive events in Lincoln. Such as Americruise or the Hot Rod Super Nats that occured over the weekend. Tons of bad ass stuff accumulated by an old gear head over the course of 50+ years. Here are some of my pics.
This dude has a sweet moustache. That has to be the key to being a good engine designer
The museum has to have damn near every flat head performance part ever made. Here is the first of many pictures involving a flat head Ford
My favorite engine of all time
People did crazy shit, a Pontiac 4 cylinder with a SBC head
So those new reverse flow diesels use 60's Indy car technology?
Bobby Unser (signature) won the Pikes Peak Hill climb with this Smokey Yunick build Boss 9
This Indy car engine is what Plymouth did with the money they would have paid Richard Petty in 1969 if he hadn't gone to Ford. It won a race at Dover.
If you're going to put a non-Ford engine in a 32, it should be one of these
Bill wishing Bill best wishes
This work of art
Is in this thing
Lots and lots of model T parts. Replacement parts, speed parts, random modification parts
This thing was a big display of a model T chassis and the rest entirely aftermarket parts. Two speed rear end. An overdrive box on the back of the trans, wheels, headlights, pedals, the thing on the right front tire is for driving on ice
Only remaining example of a Ford development engine from 1980 using coil packs and mechanical direct injection
Only remaining example of a Ford developmental OHC 289
Weslake worked on engines for everyone, Ford Y Block modified by them
External valve trains trip me out
Two SBCs grafted together
Experimental SOHC SBC
Superchargers
Flathead intakes
Air cooled Ford Engine
Pedal Cars
Soap Box Cars
Sprint Car-Go-Round
I had one just like this as a kid
Lunch Boxes
The man himself
I didn't post all the pics. There are a bunch more museum pics including a bunch of pics of the info signs and lots more engines
