25-28 feet gets small in a hurry on a big lake. Spent a few summers on a 26' Powerquest that would run just over 70mph on dead-flat water and it was waaaaay small when things started getting rougher on bigger water (Erie, Michigan, etc.). My buddy's 35 ft Fountain was a totally different animal in similar conditions. Granted, hull design plays a large role, but length will play a major factor overall. As stated above, go as large as you can afford.
i plan to. just not sure if i will be heading out to lake michigan all that often where the v would be much better.
looking to stay single engine with this boat but eventually will be looking for something in the 35-38 with twins but not for a while yet
You can buy my 17,6 nitro with a 115
A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again.
