They have it flashing on a generator for the past day or so, still no power here.

I mean as long as I can run the important stuff like garage lights, air compressor, small welder then I guess I could live.
I have a 5,000 with 6,250 surge or something and I have my entire house powered. Furnace, 3 refrigerators, well, lights, TV, internet... I know I'm pushing it but it seems to work. If the well kicks on when the furnace is also on she bogs a bit.

The neighboring farmer hooked up his 50K generator, then looked
down the road and saw the horse farm 1/2 a mile away all powered
    up.

He then realized he had forgot to shut his main off!

Generac, Honeywell and Kohler are all the same just sold in different stores with different stickers. We have a 20kW Honeywell natural gas unit, no issues at all. I change the oil every couple years and he have it hardwired to a cold weather kit (basically a trickle charger for the battery and oil heater for the block).

Did you have to get your meter upgraded?

I'm afraid my meter is going to need upgrading with all the stuff that house currently has...
