I hate to be a downer, but that 6.0 is trouble. I have first hand experience with these trucks and it's not good. I have a rule that if a truck ends up on a flatbed twice, it's for sale immediately. I haven't had a 6.0 truck that I can keep very long with that rule in place.

Go out of state, rust free and cheaper
To me, it's a good idea to always carry two sacks of something when you walk around. That way, if anybody says, "Hey, can you give me a hand?" You can say, "Sorry, got these sacks."

"Runs and drives great for year and mileage"

Could mean that at least it starts and drives for a few minutes then falls on its face?

I drove it for 45 min then took my readings.

I had a 03 before, the worst year and didn't have any problems. Never towed either.

Have a hard enough time trying to search local craigslist
    Let alone other states!!

I was looking for a used diesel truck earlier this year. I have two friends that both have the Fords with the 6.0 both of them told me don't buy one unless you are going to spend the money to make it bullet proof. After looking at the cost of that I found a great deal on a 06 Silverado with a 6.0L gas motor. No it does not have the pulling power of a diesel truck. But I just drove it 5 hours pulling a car hauler and still managed to get 14 mpg unloaded and 11 loaded with a Jeep.

    I understand the bulletproofing.....

But this truck has gone 300k without bullet proofing......
    WITH the egr intact.

I agree with the other guys, you couldn't pay me enough
to own one of those trucks - but if you're "sold on it", and
it sounds like you are, go for it!
